Good evening,

anyone had any experience with stiga mowers? Got a 2007 park compact 14. Stalled it mowing verges yesterday and it’s completely dead.

battery got 12.5V
all safety cut out switches seem to be working fine.
fuse fine.
12.5V to ignition and when turn to start position get voltage out.
nothing from starter, no click from solenoid.

feels like it should be something simple, can’t find any broken or rubbed wires. Think it must be ignition barrel or starter relay

think the fact it stalled is coincidence to the not starting.

any help/ advice gratefully received.

cheers

Hi.
Snap.
Mine would not start on the key last Sunday.
Started it twice since by bridging the two big terminals on the
starter solenoid.
Will have to get it sorted soon.

I had a Stiga Villa 14 do the same last year.
Traced it with a multi meter in the end to a poor contact on the ‘deck engage’ handle, which stops the engine from starting with the blades engaged. Removed switch, played with it and some aerosol cleaner for 5 minutes and it’s worked ever since.
NB- when shorting the starter terminals it wouldn’t start for about 10 seconds then it backfired like a 12 bore, thought I’d killed it.
Now it’s good as gold.

Seat switch?

Blade switch?

Clutch switch?

had the multimeter on them and all seem ok, only one I’m a bit uncertain of is the clutch switch which isnt an open/shut type but an either/or type which is working as such, but I don’t understand why it is that. Looking for wiring diagram online.
