Stiga mower running issues.

My mower has developed this annoying habit, occasionally when started it smokes like hell and revs up and down, blows a lot of smoke rings and stops, it starts back up and repeats its self again, after a while it seems to sort it self out but yesterday it persisted for ages. I took the float base off and blew some air through the carb, it did seem to help but still smoked a bit but i was able to use the mower. It seems to be fuel related but can,t see where the problem is, there is no fuel blockage.

Could well be the carb flooding, has it got the fuel cut off solenoid on the bottom of the float bowl?
Mine became a absolute pig to start, and then running rough until it cleared, wouldn’t start with choke ether.
Eventually came to start it one day and engine wouldn’t turn over on starter. Checked engine oil and crankcase was full of petrol, took spark plug out and bore was also full hydraulicing the piston.
Long story short, fuel solenoid was working but spring inside was weak not lifting float to shut of fuel, resulting in petrol dribbling in until float bowl overflowed into engine over a few days.
Very common problem with B&S engines apparently, so just put a fuel tap in line before carburettor and turn off whenever you stop.

Hi, no it hasn't the cut off solenoid, float seems to work as it should, I think it needs a major service.
