I done this for my horse but i tech screwed the board to the gates counter sunk in so the horses couldnt catch themselves on the heads of the screws
Don't worry about that @jemski ,put plenty of tec screws in it and it will be fine, for all it moves its not worth the bother.Any chance of pics? I've also been told that if you use tech screws you should drill the holes in the stockboard bigger so that it has room to move as it expands and contacts.
No but Better with tek screws
That’s what I always useThat's what I've used. Works fine.

I built 3 stables for my wife with removable stanchions so I could get my lambing shed back when needed. I used cattle gates hung a bit higher off the ground with marine ply on the lower bars to prevent legs going through. Tek screws were the simple and cheap solution to fixing the board to the bars. One drill with a socket head driver and a third hand for ten minutes and the job was done.
This is basically what I'm doing. They will double up as lambing pens and the posts are in ground sockets View attachment 634956
Farm jack .. is a very useful tool....Take your Posts out and grease them so you can get them back out in future, unless they are a loose fit in the socket [emoji106]
