They're brilliant, catching speeding motorists, arresting anyone who has offended someone else , promoting gay rights , looking after protesters blocking rds , investigating anything WOKE , filling in forms , handing out crime numbers, but if you're unfortunate enough to have been the victim of theft you're basically on your own ,

It’s worth a call but I do share his frustration; at my old job an ifor Williams was stolen; all on cctv, number plate fully visible. One of the staff recognised the local car and even knew roughly where it lived…did a drive by and true to his word found it parked in a drive. So, cctv and an address were given to the police and only a crime number ever came back. Not on a camp; just in a row of houses less than 10 miles away . Big company who didn’t really care before anyone asks why wasn’t the chap confronted.

It's actual fact , but yes , he should ring the police like we all would, but don't hold your breath for a positive outcome

I’ve had this happen on borrowed bale lifters. Worked out ok in the long run as they couldn’t come back for it again.

Recently I said here that I had tools and welding generator stolen.. well there is a possibility it's not gone far but I am not sure how to proceed, contacting police will be waste of time and it's not a good idea turning up on this person's yard and say have you stolen my equipment

I remember the mechanic years ago telling me he had a quad bike stolen, he was told where it was, so he told the police. They told him not to do anything, so he didn't. By the time they went round there, it was gone!

Pretty sure the police are employed to look into such things. Could be wrong though

no you know they are only there to stop farmers from doing their important work feeding the nation using the public roads just how they want

Your right but likely wasting your time. Know of a similar situation, police went with the chap whose kit was pinched and identified it. Bought it at a car boot sale was the answer given so police wouldn't do anything.
Cost the thief more than the value of the stolen goods over the next few months though.

Someone living near Farnham had his car stolen. His neighbour reported seeing it in a nearby pikie camp, no attempt to hide it. He contacted the police, but several days later, the car was still there. The local press got hold of the story and questioned the police over their inactivity, which was according to the inspector in charge, down to insufficient manpower and safety of their officers to enter the camp. I don't know if the chap got his car back, but around this time, someone broke into my car, though nothing was stolen, just the lock jemmied. I went to report it at the local nick and after a long wait was told no one was available to take a statement from me. It was a Saturday afternoon and there seemed to be a lot of cheering coming from the back room where the football was on. That night the inspector rang me to take a statement, there had been a lot of similar car trouble in the area and his men were run off their feet (perhaps why they were resting that afternoon). I would need to claim off insurance. Months later I received a letter from the police, a man had confessed to 40 car theft/ attempted car thefts and was now in prison. As he had been arrested on a more serious charge, they would not be taking any further action.
