Stop helping Putin

Was it still an issue that Ukraine had dammed the river into Crimea after Putin 'nicked' it?
This has been building up for a lot of years.
Putin found he had control of Crimea but it was no longer what he hoped it would be.
Ahh that explains why Crimea is a desert now, thanks for that.

Still Putin is just a Pikey stealing from others & threatning force & worse using it.

Sorry but I think it’ simply the “wrong man in the right place at the right moment in time” as the outcome seems to show. Zelensky didn’t have to surrender, he just had to agree to Ukraine remaining neutral, you have to remember he knew full well at that time that the West would not intervene whatever & the likely outcome of calling Russia’s bluff!
GB could have stayed neutral in WW2, Hitler begged it to & said how he admired the British empire.

Educated by Google. ;)

Putin being the school bully and Ukraine stood up to him, then asked help from teacher (nato,) who couldn't see a problem.
Then the bully has another go and the whole school is horrified but an important opportunity was missed.
It doesn't help that the bully has a box of stink bombs to make the school uninhabitable. :(

You are extremely naive. Putin wants a new Soviet Union. All the guff about Nato is an excuse. He has previously invaded Georgia and Crimea and Ukraine would not be the last by a long way.

So you keep saying, he's got a very funny way of going about it if he is serious about going any further,

Bet all those people in Crimea are looking at Ukraine & saying to themselves " why didn't we do what the Ukrainians are doing, how much better our lives would have been & Crimea would look blown to bits!
If Ukraine win will they really be winners? With all the devastation and loss of life.
The UK was on the winning side in WW2 and look how many years it took to pay off the debt

I am hoping there will be an international reconstruction effort. And being, eastern Europeans, I don't think the Ukrainians mind a bit of hard work. They have fought like lions and will no doubt rebuild their country faster than we imagine it could be done in the UK.

Probably don't need a 10 to 1 ratio of clip board users out in Ukraine

You really couldn't make it up, the West finance Putin's war effort, they send god knows how many billions of pounds worth of weapons to be used in that war & when it's all over & Putin has what he wanted in the first place the West will pay even more billions of pounds to rebuild the mess that they paid for, in the mean time the West's economies are all being trashed, who said it's the Russians that are the stupid ones?

The problem with Putin had to eventually come to a head. It's an enormous sacrifice by Ukraine. This at least has shown Putin that he can't bully and bomb civilians ever again. Had they not resisted and opted for a peaceful alternative then Putin would have wreaked far worse havoc and devastation elsewhere. The Russians now know more about Putin than ever before. Big mistake by the thug.

I think the Ukraine has deeply wounded Putin at a national level. For years the belief was that Russia was a mighty bear and without mercy. Now on-lookers will be watching the desperate struggle Russia has gotten itself into in Ukraine and all the wannabe separatists movements that surround or inhabit Russia will no doubt be emboldened. I think this has huge internal security implications for Russia in future. And if Germany are serious about switching away from Russian gas, then he will have a big on-going problem to contest with for decades to come. Many developed countries are actually seeing a slow down or even reduction in energy consumption, and not just oil or the like but electricity as well...

Thats why we need to keep going, invade Russia & make sure the Russians pay Ukraine for the damage.

Yes. Chop up some wood and turn off the oil. Any fuel use we can cut back on will reduce demand for his energy as a whole. Got to the stage of making sacrifices if we are to beat him at his game.
Fully agree .. chop up the wood if you can .. in other words .. grow your own fuel. Even if only a small percentage of the population are lucky enough to be able to do that, every little helps!! BUT .. lobby Rayburn, Aga and the like who have stopped producing wood burning stoves in the UK and are pushing Oil or electric instead! If Sweden etc can produce low emissions wood burning stoves, why the **** can't we?

Because we have our own sovereignty and ability to make our own rules now don’t you know. :smug:
