Store cattle growing contracts

Has anyone any information on store cattle growing contracts and who might offer this.
Got capacity to introduce quite a large number of cattle, grazing in the summer and wintered on fodder crops on very light land. Any information would be much appreciated. Want to introduce the cattle to complement our sheep and arable operations, just without the capital outlay for the stock ?

I would buy your own if possible, initially it will be painful but after a year once you start selling and get constant cashflow every month or two depending on numbers it'll work well. There are certain finance type companies which will lend you money to buy stock based on a percentage of their value when you sell them but that's not an option I would be very keen on myself. If you are friends with any big finishers then they may be keen to own the cattle and pay you a fee per week or per KG of weight gain.

Morrisons/woodhead did them up here a few years ago. All stopped now as far as i know. Think they realised they were losing so much money it was better to let farmers do on there own.

Be careful what you agree regarding growth. Why not rent the grazing out and let someone else worry about it. Winters are even worse. Too wet you want them off. Lot of snow who gives some hay.

I think that's what I would do as well. I've heard of some being stung quite badly when cattle don't meet their growth targets. It's going to be a buyer's market for people wanting to graze cattle soon because a lot are getting rid of their sucklers and wanting to graze cattle for other people instead of putting their own money down on stores.
I looked at it instead of keeping the sucklers but decided against it and would rather run my own if I wanted to do it. I will be keeping more home bred suckler cows instead. Then maybe I can sell them to buy my own stores and start that way. Maybe.

For winter yarding I pay a daily charge which includes ad lib silage. I have a silage analysis and supply a blend to be fed at a rate I specify.
