Lots of trees down, roads blocked, power off since 5pm yesterday, estimate 10pm tonight before get it back. Lots of trees to be sorted out. Bit of damage to buildings but we’ve got off lightly, well until one of the broken trees I was tidying up just about did for me 😳🤕. Glad wife didn’t notice. Don’t like wind.

Bit of snow here and very choppy. We always have a bit of bother lighting the woodburner when it’s really windy, but having a right game this morning. On the fourth go now, it just gets going and the wind blows down the flue and blows it out! Then the whole kitchen is filled with acrid smoke.

We often have to have a window open a chink to get it up and running, but we sitting here now on the coldest day of the year so far with a howling northerly wind with two kitchen windows and the lounge window wide open!!
Oh yes, been there! I can sympathise!
Our old rayburn would blow out with a northerly gale very regularly and be sat in the same conditions as you!
Very often the only way to keep it burning was to have the kitchen window wide open.

Put a heritage in during the summer with a balanced flue.......

Definitely better.

Probably just my eyes but it looks like the horse is still in there.

A few other limbs off trees and one big one come out of wood and into our field.

Dinner du Woodburner will be ready by 7. Last report from Western Power was to have electricity back two hours ago. Candles are ready just in case they can't get everything done. In fact, they're being lit now.

North East here. Had a really rough night wind from North and unusual. I’ve hedge bushes blown out, trees down, a roller shutter door blown in and buckled, and tiles off the house as well as loads of water standing.
nothing that can’t be fixed though
