Bit of snow here and very choppy. We always have a bit of bother lighting the woodburner when it’s really windy, but having a right game this morning. On the fourth go now, it just gets going and the wind blows down the flue and blows it out! Then the whole kitchen is filled with acrid smoke.

We often have to have a window open a chink to get it up and running, but we sitting here now on the coldest day of the year so far with a howling northerly wind with two kitchen windows and the lounge window wide open!!
Sounds like you need a air vent in the room for combustion air ;)

Nothing too bad here, a rotten willow down and a branch stuck holding weed up. Luckily I’ve managed to push it through with the forklift as my digger is put on a job.

Electric went off a few times but came back fairly quick. Several big branches down in my little bit and stuff scattered about but no real damage as such.
Most amusing was the ranting people on Facebook complaining how the local Christmas lights turn on had been "unnecessarily" postponed due to the weather. It was feckin rough!

Someone's stable in the middle of the road

Not going anywhere along this road today

Could be my mates stable if it's near Bunbury. He did say his had ended up in the road last night along with another shed being blown down.

Electric still on here, but I think I’ll leave the tree that’s sitting on the wire and just hope the new pole is strong enough to keep it up.

Road beneath it is a busy footpath, but nobody seems to concerned…View attachment 999954

Couple years ago we lost power one morning, I walked the line of the over head wires until I go to the golf course next door, the wire had snapped and come down across the fairway. It was sparking and jumping with the grass being burnt around it as well.

Golfists did not seem to care as they carried on playing and stepping over the cable as it flicked about.....

Literally seconds after I said the missus hadn’t been called out her pager went 🤦🏻‍♂️
Not been off the yard yet but dogs weren’t keen to come out
8 month old Lab pup thought the wind was wonderfully exciting, full of it.... completely bonkers.

The 8 year old Lab said sod it, went out, did her business and now curled up watching Rugby with me!! :)

I’ve had that in a few places here, when geese have fried themselves on the wires and brought them down.
One was in a stubble field and spent an hour or two smouldering before they turned it off.

Very windy here last night plus 6inches of snow equals sheds full of snow this morning! Did bring a large branch down close to the farm yard, luckily we hadn't parked the cattle trailer there like normal! Power went off just before 4am this morning, still not back on yet! And predicted to be below freezing all night tonight and all day tomorrow!

Checked all the animals first on the motorbike, which was needed, as there are several big branches on our back access track. Coming back, I noticed a 15ft hawthorn out of our hedge on a local C road which is heavily used, so I grabbed a saw and popped it in the pickup and went down in the loader. Missus kept idiots at bay in the pickup while I picked the whole thing up, and ran it 100m down the road and into a field. Then went and tidied up another 1/2 doz obstacles on the road back to the main junction.

I was chain-sawing one large branch and an Audi idiot squeezed past the truck as I was sawing, and shot past me. Hopefully, karma will deposit a large oak in front of him on the next bend...

I don't think the Council/WPD will out anytime soon...
