True, but it's the fact that October, November, December and January were so abnormal, we were hoping for some balance.
I'll grant you October was abnormally wet (well October has been wet before, the last week of September was the bigger problem around here) but November, December, January were pretty normal I'd say. Again, around here anyway.

That’ll keep Mrs O busy for a while, as she’s the official chainsaw operator.?

That chestnut tree was several hundred years old, and the trunk looks like it was rotten most of the way through. I’m tempted to just light a fire under it, before anyone tries to risk life & limb to get a few logs.;)
It can stay where it is as a lambing shelter for a couple of months though.

Arran is similar re ferries, but the fact the port engine has been playing up hasn't helped. They have been working on it in Brodick for over 2 days now, supposed to be doing sea trials today as of 11.30 am...........

Cal Mac are struggling with ferries. Our usual boat, the Clansman is fairly good at getting in to the pier in rougher weather but she is away getting a refit. The Lord of the Isles is falling to bits to the point where a couple of weeks ago with a bit of swell the skipper ordered a thinner stern rope on in case the big rope pulled the arse out the boat. She also now has a weight limit because the car deck is so weak. If Cal Mac go a boat down then it causes mayhem. When I was young I remember being on the ferries in real bad weather and the wash of the waves hammering off the windows, but now with health and safety and the fact that skippers lose a 25K bonus if they damage a boat they just cancel the run if someone so much as farts at the pier on Coll

Cal Mac are a joke nowadays and sometimes I wonder what it would of been like if that other company won the tender a couple of years ago..... probably worse

Arran boat off again today, the new terminal at Brodick isn't suited to easterly winds!
I hope they put the engine on the Clansman back together properly unlike the Caledonian Isles...

It's just one cock up after another just now. Today is the best day we've had in ages and thankfully we are getting a ferry but it's looking grim looking at the forecast for the next week. Has there been a lot of cancelled ferries on Arran recently? The Cally Isles was a grand big boat in her day and I've seen her heading to Barra on occasion in rough seas and handling fairly well

I was about to say the Calley Isles is the Clansmans sister ship but it's the Heb Isles
