i expect it was before a boy like you were born but todays was nothing like as bad as in October '87

We've been on this job all afternoon, if I had a pound for every time someone said to us "It's not as bad as '87 is it " before turning round and fecking off without helping :ROFLMAO: :banghead: .

Gobshite suits him perfectly, is there a female version as she’s just as bad.

I can almost guarantee if the phone goes Sunday afternoon, and it does nearly every other week, it’s him or her with some niggle or other…🙄

I had some that wanted me to organise and pay a locksmith as they had locked themselves out!! I actually had a key but didn’t want them to know as I kind of felt things were coming to an end! They moved out and left a trailer load of stuff behind! 2 hrs to clear it to the tip was not too bad for a months deposit!!

I said at the time of Arwen, I really don't get this idea there was nothing on the news. It was on every news bulletin down here about the devastation in the North. As well as all the predictions. Weren't they covering it up your way?
yes they were but the diff was it had little news before it was meant to happen as it wasnt in the south ie LONDON

It's amazing how quickly a road can be cleared with a telehandler in an emergency... ;)

I had some stuff down on a local road that Herself has been down and found after Arwen. 5mins chainsaw to cut trunks down to a manageable size for the pallet tines, and the road good to go... Council turned up 2 days later I believe :)

Mind those trunks look a tad large!

Just glad that we took the chance to shear all the roadside ash trees back to bare trunks a couple of years ago, while the road was closed for a few weeks.
Had a roof light popped out in one shed at lunchtime, was pretty wild for a couple of hours!

Just out of interest, how much is a pint of ale in London now ?

Just to keep the TFF massive updated on my predicament of being stuck in London. We are staying in Waterloo, Mrs Bg is now much happier as we are spending the evening north of the river. She was born in Westminster so gets shaky when she is south of the Thames.

We are dining in the Leicester tourist trap, decent food a not bad IPA was £6.50 unfortunately it wasn’t a whole pint.
I have also discovered the most useless app created is the one Odeon requir you to use to dispense a drink, surely a button is easier.

Wish us luck for a train tomorrow

Finally home, Cornwall and Devon roads absolutely fine, Somerset a nightmare , Essex the absolute worst as ever, but smiling now as a cow has just calved on arrival home, and son was really pleased to see his new lamb.

stockman (ben) has done a great job of holding the fort, dealt with a ewe with twin lamb, ewe above lambed and cow calved and a storm to deal with, plus my house was emaculate!!!!

Hope you got or are getting home ok 👍

It's a pity you've had your holiday spoilt, at least if no one is hurt that's the main thing.

Good luck 😊
Home now, nobody on holiday resort injured, luckily most of the ones on the top of the hill went yesterday. Park owners have said they have had to cancel all the holidays booked for the next 2 weeks, 150 caravans on site☹

North coast Cornwall was wild today. Didn’t seem bad first thing and thought maybe they’d over hyped it but by 11am was full on.
Sheep shed door blown in, a barge board off. Timber frame straw shed swaying and heaps of slates off barns and a few off the farm house.
Sheep lambing outside weren’t bothered though. No rain with it and blue skies all day!

We thought the same and almost turned 20 newborns outside.
had plenty worse but the direction ruined us in the end, electric wires snapped at 10am and still not on. Neighbours newish 100 bird smith sectional henhouse flew 100 metres into the side of my lambing shed and over the top into a heap 🤦🏻‍♂️
My henhouse which has survived 10 years of some serious storms on the cliffs with the previous owner is now flat packed.
Wife has been out 16 hours with the fire service securing buildings that were danger to life.
Talking to Electric board boys earlier mending the wires here they had 130 jobs to do and rising by the minute with only 10 teams out - fortunately we are priority as we are on the same line as the lifeboat around the corner from us

I had an appt in Barnstaple first thing yesterday and as it took a long time to get I didn't want to miss it. Was wondering if I could get it done and be home in time to get round all the deer fences. Chucked a chainsaw in the truck and went. On the way home I encountered two tress down across the main A377 with 3 vans on the other side so hopped out, fired up the saw and started attacking the trees. 3 tradies then promptly jumped out of their vans and started clearing the wood to the side of the road as I cut. All gone within 10 minutes. Then about 1 mile from home a huge beech was blocking the road but an easy detour.

When I got home there were 2 trees down on the deer fences with the deer just dripping the ivy off and ignoring the gap. Took most of the day to cut up trees and repair the fences. The raceway leading to the handling system was completely flattened on one side due to having windbreak attached. 30 posts snapped off at ground level although there was a few that were rotten. I have to get that fixed pretty quick as we have a TB blood test on the 23rd. Power went off in the afternoon, back on about 4am today. Could have been worse.
