Strautmann super vitesse 2

Hello I am looking to know of anyone that breaks these wagons as I could possibly need a rotor. Or even a new one but I'm sure the price could be staggering.

Could anyone point me in the right direction.

Shaft with two bearings on it that drives pickup reel came out of housing, chain then got caught in gear teeth beind the big cog that drives the main drive chain.

Stripped teeth of gear and when we looked closer it has twisted the splines on main shaft. Will put photo up tomorrow.

Though it was just a couple of bearings but the more we looked the worse it got.

I helped a friend last year refurbish one of these wagons, changed all the above bearings. Changed the two main drive chains, and the sprocket s on the gearbox end. Rebuilt the pickup reel etc. Quite an impressive wagon for its age. Have you tried googling the part no for the main rotor? Can't find it on this phone .

That's the main shaft where the big cog slides on. As you can see there is a twist in the splines, having bother getting the bearing off to get the rotor out atm.

Crikey, twisted the splines, but has it bent out of true? If the main cog still turned true, change the gearbox end drive cog, get a blank one, and a machine shop to cut the key way different to composite for the twist.( If that makes sense)

Some of these wagons still operate with a bent shaft. The rotor can be repaired in a long bed lathe. A few years back l looked at 1 for sale and it had a bent rotor shaft. I priced a new rotor through strautmann dealer and it was around £5000 which isn't as bad as some I'd heard of.

Yes twisted. Rotor seemed to be turning ok but not to sure as haven't had it running since what happened. Will look into it and see about contacting a local engineering crowd.

It will take more inspection to see what the total extent is but I doubt we'll have it going in 2 weeks for first cut [emoji17]

Went through the insurance.
8-9000 spent on new rotor and other parts. Also had pick up reel over hauled before we notice how bad the other damage was.
Put in 175 acres with it this summer
