Yes stopped at the Spyglass. It was lovely in the sun, we came down the main hill but decided 14% was a tad steep so we went back up Zig Zag hill behind the pub. Basically its climbing all the way to Blackgang Chang

Sorry to put this here and I don’t know what his tff name only his real name (Rhodri davies). We followed each other on tff velo and then chatted a lot on fb but I’ve just seen a post saying sleep tight?
I actually feel sick and that I somehow knew him quite well. Does anyone know anymore?

Oh no way. He use to say some lovely Welsh writing on Strava. He loved climbing hills.
Ye he was lovely. He messaged me when I first started cycling and gave me loads of advice, even invited me up to Tregaron to go out with their club to build my confidence etc but I never got to go. We’ve been friends on fb for a few years and he’d always tag me in short people memes

Was going to write a big thing about mental health, instead I did the 2 climbs near here that are in the 100 best climbs. Westbury white horse and longcombe drive, the main entrance to longleat for Rhodri :(

Anyone using a smart turbo trainer? Nights drawing in now so thinking of getting set up to cycle indoors. What would I need to get started?

Thanks

Following! Next door use zwift and I think I’d love it! I’ve got a normal turbo and sometimes YouTube gtn hiit sessions but it’s a bit dull when you can’t see how far or fast you’ve cycled. I bought a sensor and that was shocking

Yeah. We have a wahoo kickr core. I got it for zwift last autumn. You need a computer/tablet or smart phone for the zwift app. We use an iPad via a Bluetooth connection. TBH it’s been good, 3 of us use my subscription to zwift, between us we’ve done about 4000 virtual km without any issues.

Just done my 1st Zwift session of the autumn. It is really simple and as ever you can spend mega money if you want,
If you can get a smart trainer its not essential but improves the experience, basically if you are going uphill it increases the resistance on the back wheel so it makes you work harder, on non smart trainers you can do this manually. I have an elite qubo trainer which does work quite simply, plug the bike in and go but it doesnt calibrate itself so I suspect some of my stats are not quite right not that it bothers me. I have zwift on my ipad which is connected to a tv so that I can see a big screen but it is not essential. Zwift will also work on android or a PC. Theres lots of options of what to do, you can just ride around, race do training plans. I tend to do a plan but did do the tour de Zwift last spring so I have a fancy virtual jersey.

Turbo trainers destroy tyres so dont put a best one on and buy a fan it gets very hot, remember you cant free wheel

That makes a lot of sense actually because the guy next door averages 17-18mph on his turbo but on the road he’s slower than me  :ROFLMAO:
