Has anyone used one of these? We found the straight tow bar thing rubbish that attaches on both bikes so wondering if this is any good?

We used the original Tag a long when my daughter was small. was absolutely brilliant and got is all out as a family.
Did it feel quite safe? I’m guessing I’d need a mountain bike or something?
He’s up to cycling 4 miles but with no gears it takes an age so I thought this would be good to get us all out together and not just me going out for longer spins

I had it behind a mountain bike as that was all I had. I wouldn't like to put one behind a full carbon racer but apart from that I wouldn't worry too much. I never felt uncomfortable, balance wise with my daughter on the back and I basically did most of the work with a bit of appreciated help on the hills.

My bike frame has broken:mad:. Anyway any thoughts on carbon road frames? I have been happy with the Giant tcr and I may be able to get a replacement from them. However I quite fancy a change, anyone happy/unhappy with what they have? In particular I have always used rim brakes, how do people get on with disc brakes, are they worth the extra £? TIA.

Giant Frames should be lifetime warranty.

Lots of choice out there - I looked for ages for a bike. All depends what you want to spend/ what spec. Not many dud models

New Giant Defy is disc only at decent price

I haven’t spoken to the shop but I presume my frame will be covered. However in 3 years it gets quite a bit of stick. I couldn’t put my hand on my heart and say I haven’t come off it a couple of times  The front mech just broke out of the frame as I was going down hill so I don’t think it was an impact but who knows, depends on giant’s attitude I suppose. The other thing is, however irrational, having a breakage on a relatively new frame raises a question mark in my mind.

Readers wives bikes:
Like it’s owner, “built for comfort, not speed” - Genesis ‘Equilibrium’ (Reynolds ‘725 chrome moly’ with carbon fork) bought ‘frame only’, SRAM Apex levers and crank, ‘Red’ front mech, ‘X7’ mountain bike rear mech (whisper quiet), ‘clip-less’ mountain bike pedals, 25mm Continental Gatorskins, extra wide drop bars and a *proper* Brooks Flyer sprung saddle.
Thought I’d better give it a service before I start my training for The Tour of Britain.
(Stage 2 passes about a mile away ;))

I love discs and nearly every bike in the TDF now uses them. Where MTB leads road bikes follow

What did Giant say about the frame?

I don't know your budget but the Cannondale Supersix new models are coming out and so the older ones are being knocked down from time to time. I think Tredz had the Ultegra Supersix on for £1500 which is pretty good. You should be able to find the 105 super six available cheapish too. There really is loads of choice out there.

Haven’t spoken to them yet. It broke on holiday and I haven’t been back long. Inconveniently it seems I have some farming to deal with ATM!

Biggest training run so far for Ride London yesterday. Home to Cheddar Gorge and back. 84 miles with more climbing than London so a slower speed than usual. Feeling good today so really pleased. Managed to loose a bottle and a strap broke on my shoes so going to have to do some shopping.

Met a chap on a very expensive Willier bike at the bottom of the gorge (Hunt carbon wheels cost more than my bike) He said if I can do the gorge I will be fine with Box and Leith hills.

Any recommendations on cycling gear for a 4 year old? With a bit of padding and protection?

We did 12 miles today but at one point he slid off (too busy looking at peoples fields :cautious::rolleyes:) and he has quite bad road rash! Even under his T-shirt
He got back on and just blamed me  but I’d like to keep him a bit more protected, we’ve got cheap knee and elbow pads but he finds they pinch.

I would think kids' skate board stuff would be as good as anything.
