Thought I’d put a couple of photos of today’s ride. Did a loop around Imber Range (where the deserted village is) and got a PR climbing Westbury White Horse.

Photos are the view from the top of the White Horse.

Don’t tell the anti cycling thread but I saw a few tractors, full respect from everyone, I kept out of their way and they gave me plenty of room.:):):)

I started paying a few months ago I quite like the ability to track my fitness stats. The leader boards are useless for me as the only way I will get a KOM is if I create a segment through my village, it’s a dead end and I’m the only cyclist living here ?

I was on a deal which I think was £18 for some of the extras for a year. Looks like the free version is enough to keep you going if you don’t want to pay. I’ll keep paying for a while and se how I get on.

I’ve paid for the premium service in the past but only for a month or two whilst training for half marathons, etc. I find the extra info quite interesting and motivating. But i’ll stick with the free version for everything else!

My pet hate with Strava is seeing other people’s segments and routes trespassing across our fields! ? it just encourages others to do the same routes ?‍♂️

Any recommendations for summer clothing?
Having only got back into cycling and got a decent road bike in winter I’ve only got padding leggings and waterproof jacket. Thinking a jersey and padded shorts? Or a bib? Any brands or places to buy from recommendations?
Any help would be appreciated [emoji1303]

I understand the basics that most people use is still there. Tracking your ride, messaging your friends and posting photos, the segments are still there but you will only see the top 10 people.

Strava argue that they have never made money and don’t want to advertise or sell data. Which I think is fair. There have been enough threads on TFF about companies selling data for me to know it’s not popular. Strava also ran different pricing options for a while which I don’t think was popular among users

I have been paying for about 6 months. I really like the training data I get as competing against myself is the most important thing for me. I’m never going to be high on a leaderboard. For the amount I use it I think £4 a month is ok. Mrs Bg uses the free version for her running and hasn’t complained about the changes yet.

I certainly wouldn’t want a mass exodus of customers
cause Strava to fail so hopefully they can make some use of my money for now.

I did see a post online saying that the people complaining most were the ones with £5k bikes ?
