That would be on my list. Endurance set up with 32mm tyres so will be comfortable over 100 miles, wheels can also be setup tubeless which should reduce puncture risk. 105 groupset is really good 11 speed. 50-34 on the front and 11-34 on the back great for climbing Welsh mountains. Cool colour 😎 Red bikes go faster.
The wheels are 40mm deep so nice and aero dynamic but may just catch the wind a little on a rough day.

A good choice

Just noticed it’s carbon wheels so nice and light for going up hill. If you wanted to spend less I expect there’s a model with 105 gears and alloy wheels. Bet it’s not the funky colour scheme.

Only thing I'd add to what others have said @mrs mtx is the bigger overall range on the back from smallest to largest cog, the more likely he'll find himself between gears due to bigger gapping.

Just down to personal preference then whether he'd prefer a bail out gear for steep stuff, or smoother feeling on rolling roads. If the rear mech is a medium caged 105 though, which it must be to take a 34t max cog, it would take 11-34, 11-32 or 11-30 cassette no trouble. Plus, if you're buying in store it should be simple to get them to change cassette and shorten chain as required.

Would people be recommending a bike fit? Presuming like most things the more you pay the better the fit? Looks a range of prices from £80-£180 locally.

Can anyone recommend a bottle cage that will hold a 1000ml bottle? I don’t mind if it’s a bottle and cage or just a cage that will fit one.
I’ve found I can drink more on a long ride if it’s in a bottle compared to my camelback but my current cage will only hold a 500ml bottle
before anyone tells me just to buy another....I’m planning on carrying 2 x 1000ml bottles

I’m getting rather frustrated with rain and not being up together with work and my cycling miles. Thought I’d post a picture of my new toy. I’ve had it a few days and only been round the yard on it. Don’t dare get it wet yet.

Do I put it on the new toy day thread or is that asking for trouble:ROFLMAO:

That is a smart bike. It just looks fast in that colour! I was a bit like that with my MTB I built last year, didn't want to ride it in case it got muddy!

I'm getting plenty of miles in commuting at the moment (25/day) but that then leaves me wanting a rest on the weekend when I'd normally go out with a group locally off-road
