Straw bedder for bedding calves

We are after a straw bedder for bedding the calf shed. The biggest problem with most of them is the dust they create. We have tried a good few bedders but are all creating to much dust because of the high speed involved with blowing the straw. Has anyone got a machine that doesn't create much dust? Something like this would be a good job but we have to bed into pens from a centre passage so don't think this machine would work

We only bed the individual calf hutches by hand, everything else is done with the spread a bale, brilliant piece of kit! Hooked on in seconds and doesn't tie a tractor up,also they never block up! (y)

use bedders for cows , even then don't bed with them in the shed, shake all the straw out for the calves , that way you get a good look at them while you're at it aswel(y) don't know about spread-a-bale type machines but if you don't have straw completely free from stones and dust and you're using a blower type machine i wouldn't bed with any animals there, the dust is bad enough sometimes , and managed to embed stones in 1/2 inch plywood at the back of the shed, hence they're moved out to the yard when they're bedded :angelic:

teagle 8080, we do same type of pens and just run the bedder on low revs just enough to throw the straw out and not much dust at all, and the calves get used to it and just move them round pen with the shoot,

Yea very pleased with the calf shed. Well ventilated and plenty of light is the key.

Eulb, does your spread a bale still create a bit of dust? Can the rotor speed be slowed down?

Hardly any dust compared to my old straw blower,I have mine set up so the belt only moves when you give it some revs, this means you can control the amount thrown out easier.(y)
