Have got a Kuhn straw blower/bedding machine coming to try. Can they cope with less than perfect straw? We have some bales are a bit clapped and tight. Also can you run a top bale that is wet through them or are you better leaving them for the pigs to destroy/spread.

Thanks as always

Put anything through my teagle, can be a bit lumpy with the real sh1t ones but it handles them no problem, I normally blow that straight onto the feeding passage, ready to be scraped up, not much bedding in wet crap!

Just got a Kuhn here, and it's a beast, it will handle anything, particularly in its low speed which is suitable for silage.

The one we have has a hydraulic comb that adjusts how much the rotar gets a hold of which would be useful for matted straw or coarse haylage.
We've got a McHale which I think is the same but in green
Can switch the bed between constant feed and stepped which is great for wet stuff or silage

You will not be disappointed.

Best machine on market and will eat anything. Your straw won't be any issue to it (y)

trailed or mounted?

the mounted is a bit more temperamental, it'll take the crap bales but you have to be careful how fast you feed them in. the trailed is a beast which eats anything

I bought a kuhn from a farm sale recently, I am currently using outside straw in a stack that has had 15 inch of rain on them, it handles them no problem at all, great machine mine is mounted.
