Straw chopper hire

Unfortunately we have an amount of spoilt hay to chop rowed up in the field that never got baled.
I've phoned all local hire companies that I know including Ranskill hire and nobody knows of one to hire, have considered using a topper but think it may not spread it, also thought about getting a forage harvester to chop it, or someone to round bale it without netting and pick up and burn them in a corner. Not really bothered about spending too much money as it's cost a lot already and the ground is a bit too wet to be chasing around on. But the job needs to be done asap so it has time to rot down.

Has anyone got any better ideas or suggestions please ?

Err if you want to put it thru a straw chopper you will first have to bale it................

I wouldn't round bale it and tip it at the corner of the field with no net on as you will have to get out and pull about 1/4 of the bale out of the chamber manually every time you try to empty the bale chamber!

Self propelled forager is your best bet if its still in the field and no stones but you would have to wait until the ground is a lot dryer than it currently is.

I think he means a different type of straw chopper. We used to hire a 3 point one before we had one on the combine.

Was made by browns and very much like some of the KV v flail grass toppers

It was mown and made a little late in early September but it was rowed up ready to bale the next day but it got rained on and never got fit after that . It was a freak storm that we didn't have back at the farm and we baled some beautiful hay close to home. It's in wide rows because it wasn't the thickest of crops, at the moment it hasn't rotted much but to be fair I haven't been in the field for a month or so and when I occasionally ride past it's eyes straight forward as it annoys me what's happened. There is 50 acres ! I have thought about tedding it out and then topping or topping then tedding, either way if I harrowed it cross ways spring time and flat rolled it it should help. At least it will have plenty of time to rot by Hay time , hopefully a dry one this year.

Find a kidd double chop forager.(or any forager really i guess)
Take off the spout and blow it straight up.
Did this with rape straw in Oxfordshire.
Was nearly aa much fun as burning heaped up linseed straw!
