Straw chopper novice.

Got the combine straw chopper to refurbish as chopping bean straw this year.

Never looked at chopper as all cereal straw is baled. Going through it now and need a few blades. It’s a Rekord M401 on a MF combine

This is where I ask the question what is better plane blades or serrated for the rotating barrel?

MF part number is giving serrated blades option only but damaged blades removed are plain and look original by paint colour. Realistically need to replace over half them but don’t know whether it’s worth looking for plain blades or change the lot for serrated.

Any advice welcomed

Whether you decide on plain or serrated, change them all for new to ensure the rotor is balanced

That was on mind as well, more expensive up front but cheaper long term
