Straw imports

Good afternoon everyone,

With the difficult trading conditions in the straw market I am looking to import from the continent. Has anyone else started this already? Does anyone have any contacts?

Thanks FN

Doesn't some bloke called Phillip Judge import/export straw? Others will have more knowledge of him than me. Surely a load from the South East (England) would be cheaper than bringing it over on the boat?

Ringlink were loading coasters in Montrose to go to Orkney the last couple of years I'm sure you could get a coaster loaded on the continent and bring it over. Just need to find someone over there to put the cargo together.

Going from your post Wooly there is already straw leaving the UK. Do you know what the trade is? Is there likely tonnage still available to buy.

A load of black grass. Which isn't up here yet.

Must be a huge chance of that happening in a year like this.
Last thing we need up here. Always thought our higher drying costs offset the additional blackgrass control spend those in the south routinely incur in growing their crops.
We certainly don't want both.

We will have to set up road blocks :ROFLMAO:

They have blackgrass on the continent big style.

Most years a lot of straw is back-loaded to the continent from here, particularly Holland as they don't have enough.

They take it in curtain-siders which hold a lot less than the normal wagon and drag but it still apparently. I don't know if they will be doing it this year though.

Although you would have to fill s shop to capacity or find a vessel already running part loaded - the haulage will be very much less by ship
