Do livestock farmers think of anything else than the straw price? surely it must have a minor impact on their income compared to other variables?
or is it that they just cant abide arable farmers.
Very few other inputs swing so much. Quite common to double/half in price year to year. Not unreasonable to take a position early on a chunk. It's bad enough with this acres malarkey where the quantity is dependent on the weather/combine driver/mood of manager.

My bill over the last 4 years (same no of stock) has varied from 0 to £22k. Got a load of paper crumble this morning - there's a dozen bales that I won't buy this summer.
