Straw - whose is it?

This isn’t a whinge from me, but in a few hours time the village Facebook page will have gone nuclear as straw is currently being carted through the village on chasers.

Local farmer has rowed up his straw, and it’s being baled by a local contractor who buys it off the farmer, although he stacks it in a big stack on said farmer’s land until it’s taken away on 3rd party lorries.
The edge of the roads are already a good 6” deep in straw, and drains are now blocked.

Whose responsibility is it to tidy this up? Farmer, as he won’t have been paid for the straw as it’s being carted through the village so still technically owns it, or contractor as he’s agreed to buy the straw, is carting it himself although he doesn’t technically own it yet?

I suppose to be pedantic, each chaser load should be sheeted before leaving the field as a jobsworth VOSA employee may see it as a loose load?

You seriously have people moaning about a bit of straw in the village?
They must be fun when sh!t spreading, moving animals down the road etc…
I suppose it isa bit of a fire hazard atm and to be honest why someone would want straw all over their garden. The people hauling it should get off their arse and sweep it up. You mention sh!t spreading which i prefer to call dung cart but the same applies, if you leave a lot on the road you have to clean it up. This is nothing new, we used to clear up the road after dung cart in the 70,s . Why any one thinks they can turn the road into a slurry pit and think it is O.K. Smacks of arrogance.

You could easily be carting straw several miles though, through a couple of villages. Just not practical to sweep every bit up.

I honestly haven’t heard anyone in my village ever complaining about a bit of straw in the verges. I confess I declined to joined the village WhatsApp though aka the village moanfest so maybe they’re in there having a good whinge.
