Two comments on the article.
I don't believe the supermarkets arranged for foreign beef, they ordered extra and that's where their supplier sourced it from.
Why would you need the army to drive milk tankers when there is thousands of truck drivers sitting at home doing nothing?
As usual with these articles, its all whining and throwing the toys out the pram. No solutions are offered.
Agree with the super market , their supplier is stuck in the past , they have miss judged things change and people want British produce now.

How many workers are furloughed for no other reason than employer sees easy money to pay staff.Heard the other day a firm has stopped crop walking .As for the beef job, milk etc don’t get me going. All I say is their will be those that make megar bucks, those that loose their shirts and the biggest bunch those that stitch everyone up.

How many workers wont have a job to return to?

Even food companies like McCain are furloughing staff now as there is a much reduced market for their product.
Not surprised the Beef job is down, all the burger chains are closed. What did you think that would do to prices/demand?

Interestingly enough the company that we supply veg to is unable to furlough staff because it employs more than 250 people. Of those people 20 percent are either off sick or self isolating last week they paid over £10000 in sick pay which they won't get back. The supermarkets aren't paying them anymore yet they are moving mountains to get produce into the supermarkets.
At a minimum you should be emailing your MP in the UK about this.

The supermarkets are just ruthless scumbags.

What's the point though? We can't do anything about it. I'm just enjoying it on the way past.

Theres many people a lot worse off at the moment.
Why worry?
Because if no rain soon it will be a possibility of going bankrupt.

Lots of ppl worse off?
Plenty better off.
80% wages and little expenses at moment.
Wish I was in same position.
