I'm exactly the same. No tv but I do read my kindle before dropping off. Then awake around 3. When I find myself thinking too much I read again. Takes the mind off things. Then back to sleep just before the alarmI don't have trouble going to sleep as long as the TV is on, just to take my mind off the day's problems but I often wake up at 3/4am and there's no way I can get back to sleep then. Usually nod off about 5.55 and my alarm goes off at 6. The worst thing about waking up in the early hours is not being to do anything about it without waking the rest of the house up so usually end up staring into the darkness with all sorts of things going through my mind...

Yes, but by the time you get to my age you don't have that many muscles. Feet, arms, chest (breathing) what next?Ive not been to bed before 3am for the last 10 weeks due to lambing, some mornings I’ve not hit the pillow untill 6am after 24 hours straight through and all i can say is, when you cant sleep you simply cant sleep I’ve been there loads of times over the last 2 and a half months and when that brain starts to get stimulated and spinning around in circles it takes a hell of a lot to stop it!!
Best remedy I’ve found is to concentrate very hard on the following - lightly tense up and down every muscle in your body starting with your toes, then ankles, calf’s, thighs, stomach and back muscles, up your arms all the way to your hands and back up to your neck and then back down! Keep repeating the above! The wave motion will send you off to sleep but you have to focus only on this as its so freaking boring it’ll help send u off lol.
Hope this helps
Good luck

Womans hour for me......although, the conversations are sometimes quite interesting that you find yourself staying awake to listen!!!! I have also uploaded a free 'mindfulness' app onto my phone, called 'Headspace' - 10 min sessions to listen to.....I've yet to get to the end of one before falling sleep - definitely works - focuses on your breathing, all very boring but does the trick!Podcasts here too. I like gardeners question time - interesting enough to listen to but boring enough to fall asleep to! Also The Archers, More or Less, The Bottom Line. I don't like radio in the middle of the night, the news can be depressing!
I’d just have a horlicks if I were youIf I’m awake in the middle of the night I start counting or matching vehicles to numbers. Eg
1=series 1 Land Rover
2 =jcb 2cx
3= Land Rover disco 3
Etc. Quite a few gaps after 8 though. So maybe you lot could help me fill up the numbers
