Some very interesting info on the Net about direct seeding rice. "Direct Seeding of Rice and Weed Management in the Irrigated Rice-Wheat Cropping System of the Indo - Gangetic Plains", (Core.ac.uk/download/pdf 3144 11.pdf) looks interesting.
The Indo-Gangetic Plains are a huge area and it says home to 400,000,000 million people!!!!

We sent a load of tyres to be recycled and when I asked what they did with them they said a lot are sent to India where they are burnt in power stations....
There used to be a tyre burning power station in Wolverhmpton (Elm Energy) not sure who owns it now
(Carillion did a one tiime) but it was cheaper to send tyres abroad.
