Stubble Turnips Through Vicon Spinner

I normally spread stubble turnips with the quad bike and by Bullock slug pelleter.

Doing two passes at an angle and it works OK.

But this year I need to put in nearly 70 acres worth of turnips and it would take an age with the quad bike and prob not be that accurate.

I do have a 2 year old Vicon RO-XL spinner that has a small seed kit on it but not spread tiny seeds with it. ( dont want to do a Top Gear and spread the lot in 10 seconds!!)

I have heard of some one local mixing the seed 50/50 with Tiger Sulphur prills:

That comes in 25kg bags and I would only need about 6 or 7 bags of it if I spread the seed at 2kg an acre into worked stubbles and then rolled after.

Any one tried anything similar or used a fert spinner for sowing turnips/fodder rape?

What sort of width would the seed spread to? Id probably do 10/12m or so I guess

Dad used to sow 4-500acre a year of forage rape with a vicon wagtail. Sometimes mixed with nitram but often straight. He used to do the whole lot at 8metres at half rate and then go back over it all in between Incase the seed didn’t spread far enough. It’s very difficult to spot the difference between 1kg and 2kg seed rate so at least all of the ground was scattered on with the first pass and second pass would make it even. @KB6930 ever done turnips through yours? @Battlefield Machinery might be able to say more about settings

I have done but can't remember how I did it
Must have been mixed with fertilizer and 2 passes. I think there was a kit to make the holes smaller but seem to remember dad mentioned making one out of cardboard as it was just a cover with a small hole in it. But I think he still went over twice with it as it's so hard to set properly.
So no I don't know how to do it. That was helpful 🤣

I have found some setting in the ap for grass and slug pellets, but not for really small seeds. Ill have a look in my book at some point.

Thanks

Air boom spreaders were brilliant for spreading turnips seed ,,,,we used to mix the seed with any ods and ends of fert to carry it ,,with booms it puts the seed on evenly ,,dish spreaders are prone to wind ,,on a dead still day it might work but a cross wind wouldnt work

I used to saw rape seed among the fertilzer, but 2 years ago l got it sown with an air drill far nice crop, if l had 70 acres to do l would get someone for a day to sow it.
