Stubble turnips with no grass?

Hello,

At the moment I drag up my spring barley stubble and grow some stubble turnips. These get grazed over winter by some keep sheep. There is an equal amount of grassland which they graze also. It works well for me.

This year I have a field, approx. 3.5 acres, and I would like to do the same.

Question is, would it work without having the grassland for them to run on also?

Water trough provided, and I would not be averse to a hay rack in the field if needed...

Any opinions gratefully accepted!

No problem, 20 acres here. Last year had a hay rack, this year just turnips (some forage rape in the seed mix, higher in protein)
