Stuck towel radiator valve

Stupid thing I should be able to sort without help to be fair. We have a stuck rad valve on the towel radiator, the opposite valve turns fine: 2.5 turns or so. This one I get maybe half turn and it doesn't fill me with confidence at that. No heat in the rad but water is coming out the vent.

How do I release it, spanner on the body and give it some or is there another way?

All help appreciated, maybe @Adeptandy is the man? (y)

looks the same as a standard tap, washer stuck? you could try undoing the gland nut and getting some WD 40 in. There is a trick on how to swap a tap without a drain down if need be.

Some cheap taps don't have a 'jumper' inside so if it won't turn by the cross head you'll have to undo the body a little & this may free it off. One positive side is you have a tiled floor not a beige carpet as the water inside is usually very black! These things always happen in November:LOL:

The jumper is the little thing he picks out inside the basin tap & what the washer should sit on.

Go to header tank and put a cork in the vent and heating supply pipe (bottom of tank), put a hose on a drain down outlet and open, this creates a vacuum so as soon as you loosen a tap etc the water will "run away from you", work quickly and you dont loose much water.

Fine as long as you have a header tank:), ours is a sealed system:(, Although a freezing kit works well if you can get to a pipe easily enough.

probably just stuck, give it a clout with a hammer but wrap some towel round it first to stop any dents, if that doesnt work get a decent hammer and give it a proper clout :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Valves both end are both open/close type taps. Suspect one has died. When little one isn't asleep I'll have a bash about and see if things can be improved, if not I'll get another valve body and replaced it live :nailbiting:

Follow the instructions, it will be easier than you fear ;)

Just check to see if the one that moves is fully open, if its not, count the turns to closed and open back to the same place after you've changed the seized one :)

One thing to try if your going to bash it, loosen the gland nut on the top, this can occasionally release the stem an allow it to turn, can also cause a small leak, if it does, wrap the stem with ptfe and push the gland back in and tighten, should hold it for a while :)

Sorry to hijack

Ive a old sink tap that drips
The jumper is plastic /nylon ( ive learnt a new term ) washer is new but not a great fit in jumper . Jumper seems abit squashed .? If u really tighten it it stops the drip ( but our lass never gets it tight )
Do jumpers wear ??
From memory 1/2 " washer but that seems 2 mm too big ?? So i trimmed the outer a midge

That is not the right type of valve for both ends as it will only allow flow one way. Make sure the water needs to flow out of the pipe into the rad at that point.
It may the valve is actually fully open and that it why it will not undo
