Sturgeon announces plans for Indyref2

Sturgeon and the SNP are a plague on the Scottish people, time is running out for nippy, lost the holyrood majority and this might be the last chance to make a case of leaving the Uk before they're out of the Eu, the clocks ticking

UK is imploding rapidly. The referendum has exposed the Scotland fault line once again. The referendum has seriously brought the NI question to the surface again and the arrogance of DUP leadership has handed to initiative to the Shinners with respect to NI breaking away from London.
EU may implode to the delight of many especially those of a Brexit philosophy but whilst the glass is being raised to toast Brexit and EU implosion the U.K., itself is fracturing along old state lines and perhaps more trickily within individual states of UK due to very narrow margin in favour of Brexit.

We're not getting enough referendums.
If her in the too high stilettos holds another referendum, I want another after that, then she'll want another, then I'll want another.......

It will all come down to the situation in the 3 or 4 weeks prior to the vote. If the UK's prospects look good the Scot's will vote remain, if it's looking bleak they will vote to leave. So no need to guess why NS has chosen winter of 18/19 as her best bet, things will probably be looking rather grim at this particular point.

Let's just say the improbable happens and Scotland do vote for independence.
It immediately applies to join / rejoin the EU.
Meanwhile TM and a few nasty Eurocrats are kicking lumps out of each other in the negotiations. Do they continue on with the boxing match or do they call a halt to figure out what the hell is supposed to happen next?
All bets off I imagine!!

Does it matter if the Scots vote to leave UK? The GDP is less than most English regions. If memory serves population of Yorkshire and Humber is similar to Scotland but there is not this ongoing mini soap opera of Salmand and Sturgeon And the report on the lunchtime news also reminded me that government spending in Scotland is £1000 per head more than rest of UK. I am married to a Scot. Appreciate we had the oil already!

Apologies to anyone taking offence but to me in rural Lincolnshire I have never quite understood the fuss about Scottish independence.

I think T M should let N S have the referendum but do it now for Christ's sake and hopefully that'll kill of the SNP.

The biggest threat to the Scottish economy is Supreme Leader Sturgeon and her neverendums.
The oil price is a disaster and the only thing being built are frigates, submarines and aircraft carriers.... oh wait.... they're being paid for by the UK.

Sturgeon is just trying to upstage May, same old story from the SNP, why bother with the real issues when you can play at grabbing headlines. The proposed date for the referendum doesn't make any sense either, how are voters meant to know what is best for them or their country when there are so many unknowns.

National Socialism - such a cool idea, Nicola could get all the non-believers (who are, after all, responsible for every bad thing that has ever happened) to wear a star coloured like union jack...............

I am a wee bit torn on this one. I was totally opposed to Scotland leaving the UK last time because it would be a financial disaster, but I am now a little bit closer to my probable retirement with the aim of being somewhere in the far north. This leads me to the quandary that if Scotland does become independent of rUK then it will probably become a third world country. Life is very cheap here in Portugal, but I can imagine Scotland would be even cheaper without the UK financial support. It will never be able to get into the EU in my lifetime, and I would not want it to be a member.

So, a purely selfish thought is, should I now support Scottish independence so that it becomes extremely cheap to live there?

I have a couple of UK pensions that would remain UK pensions and therefore worth more when converted to Punds. I also have a small Scottish one and that would be in local currency, but I could probably stand it since everyone else would also be receiving Punds and not £££s.
