Subtle yet effective Hi Vis clothing

We have polos with a reflective stripe , my thinking is you might forget to put a hi vis waistcoat on ,but unlikely to not put a shirt on. Still working on winter wear but not as many people about then.

The New Holland overalls are good. A couple of us have them. The others have other brands without reflective strips. My main concern is during harvest when it is shirt weather. The trousers with high vis strips would be a good compromise. The walkway from the weigh bridge to the office is across a high traffic area. Once you're close to the buildings it's good, with metal bollards on the outside of the walkways.

The safety culture isn't bad, we just need to fill in a few gaps. Visibility in the yard is one of them.

Hi vis polo shirts for all the staff?

Don’t confuse reflective strips with hi viz. and if the risk assessment expects hi viz, look for clothes with the relevant BS standard on the label. I have dark blue boiler suits off the rigs with shiny strips, but they are no use for making me visible in the bright sunshine.

you beat me to it

there are two categories of hi vis, daytime ( which are orange or yellow, but no reflective stripes which as pointed out are useless in daytime ) or night wear, which have reflective stripes.
I suppose the UK is similar, but here there are specific standards re hi viz wear - just wearing any yellow shirt isn’t good enough . . .

but then an English friend of mine always jokes that the “national costume” of Australia is hi viz workwear 🤣

we have heaps of manufacturers & sellers of hi viz everything in many styles of clothing , right through to socks, so probably a bit spoiled for choice
Hi vis is mandatory for many jobs, employees & worksites & isn’t really something to be looked down upon

It'll soon get expensive. shirts for when its warm, jersey, coat, wet weather gear. Obviously they'll need 3 or more shirts each.
Just get them a vest each and tell them to wear them in the yard.
Always found it a pain to wear when driving as it reflects in the windscreen.

Personally I'd just throw one of those flimsy vests over whatever I choose to wear. I'm quite picky how I dress for certain conditions and there's no way I'd be happy wearing some of this clothing in the middle of winter trying to work livestock.

polo shirts are great until you need a jumper and then it might have to keep the wind out or not. Then it might rain but be warm or fecking cold..... maybe you want a hood, maybe a long jacket for a bit more cover. I doubt you'll find all that in hi viz that you are comfortable in.

Waterproof bomber jacket £20, or breathable Helly Hansen for under £100.
Polo shirts for maybe £10 each.

£200 per employee should be plenty.
