Same here, Probably about 30% less silage that a normal year. Second cut literally disappeared before it was cut - I have never seen anything like it.

I’ve 20 acre still to bale. Hasn’t been dry enough since it came out the back of the combine in September. If I get some decent frosts , I’ll bale it.
If not I’ll turn it out with the tedder, and release the ewes !!

Can you tedd it out and feed fodder beet out with tipping trailer over it in long lines over rows to ewes to hold ground together and then by time they have done will be muck and could be ploughed under for a spring crop.

That would work,but as a last resort. The field is dry , so hopefully I’ll get it yet. The pigs won’t be too fussy !

Saw two fields of silage baled up about 8 miles away last Saturday as late as I have seen it up here. Been a tremendous year for grass growth all the way through autumn with great weather to secure since June. As others have said excess will help with fertiliser price next year. Normally a two cut place but have had three cuts this year. Finally got cool enough yesterday to stop growth.

That has put the cost of feeding up a tad...? Mustadmit, I have thought of doing this, but never found a cheap enough means to do it, so use two rings and ration the nice stuff...

Passed a field today where they'd just finished mowing.
Thought to myself it'll want to be drier ground than mine, though that's probably not difficult.

Baled some undersown barley straw on Friday, was just dung, no feed value at all.
Think it will go right to the much heap. Had to give up on the last bit as it was too wet for the tractor and baler.
Messed up in the end of September and didn't get it and its never been dry enough to have half a chance till this week. Should have baled and wrapped then and at least had something.
Lesson learned!
I've two neighbours with crop still to cut, and straw to bale, 30ft off a rotary Lexion battered into the ground will never be dry till maybe March if he's lucky.
Last two October's have been unbelievably wet, both times its like somebody turned off the weather, when it broke that's it no chance again, can't get bales off the ground either, bloody fed up to be honest.

Can still bale it but use it straight away ive seen straw baled in January before

I knew the "big herd" men would be along shortly....
I do the same at my "away" ground, but use a bale cradle on the rear, as safer on the roads coming back... Saves some time and hassle.
