Sugar beet seed pricing

So now that neo-nics have been banned and removed as the seed dressing the cost of the seed doesn't appear to have dropped.
Given that Biscaya is ultra expensive and an extra slice into the margin on growing beet (along with a second spray of Tepeki) this adds to the pressure. Are the NFU sugar board doing anything about this or does the cartel on seed mean its take or leave it?

I expect the nfu sugar board will make lots of noise then sit down with BS and have a chat over a nice cup of tea.

B.S. will tell them not to keep making fuss,you've had a custard cream now clear off and play quietly out of the way somewhere.

Is it not fraud to knowingly mis-sell or charge for something that doesn't exist? You have to obtain the tonnage before ordering seed so you cannot decide against growing it by that point?

You don’t have to buy seed from BS; you can buy KWS varieties direct from KWS if it makes you feel less ‘tied-in’...but it’s exactly the same price...just orange!

Not to mention this years seed quality has been poor. Many reports of double seeding, pear shaped pellets and rock hard pellets blocking drills!

Never mind lads we've got cinviso smart beet seed on its way(like clearfield but for beet) we've going to be forced into buying the "whole package" and if the talk is correct that phen and desmedipham are going we won't have any choice.

It has been poor. I have noticed a lot more doubles

Conviso. Useful stuff. But it’s not a closed loop, seed comes from KWS or SES and the chemical will come from Bayer

I already do! Its just as bad!

KWS stuff is pelleted in Germany with Germains obvs in Kings Lynn but I guess the actual seed comes from the same place....
