Sulky DPX grass seed

Evening,

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of using a dpx 70ans spreader to sow grass seed? Only got 3 acres to do in spring but would be nice to have a go and get it set up well with the intention of doing some more later in the year and next year. Looks like i need a flow reducer? Would it work without one and a lower setting? Thanks

If it’s the same as my dpx 30 then the little plates that reduce the flow take no fitting! I used them once to spread some sulphur pellets. Make sure both sides of the spreader are the same gap!

The flow reducers are available from any sulky dealer. They are €20 I think. You will struggle without them. If you need any help. Please ask

The kind of thing that creates nightmares , our dpx wasnt very good at spreading fertilizer so grass seed was just a guess but did do it for a few years i always set it at half rate the cross the field so its covered twice, vicon varispreader is the ideal one for the job though

Ok thanks everyone. I'll get a set of flow reducers and see how it goes in spring. It's only a bit of a trial so not the end of the world if its not 100% accurate.

The survey will estimate the area of cereals and oilseed rape intended for harvest in 2022 in the UK. The information can be used to shape the domestic market and trade and assist levy payers in their marketing decisions. It will detail regional differences of cropping across the UK, which will help...
