sunglasses do you wear them?

The main reason that I wear sunglasses at this time of year is to keep flying insects from ending up plastered to my eyeballs when on the quad. There is nothing worse that a Clegg in your eye!

Dirty Dog , Australian brand - very good value.
got a pair of these a couple of weeks ago , even find they reduce the glare greatly when driving in the rain . £35 delivered , would buy a second pair tomorrow if my current ones got lost or damaged

Yeah, as i said above, I find rain / overcast weather the glare is harder on the eyes than clear blue skies
I also sometimes wear a yellow tint lens at night if there is a lot of glare from headlights etc

Wear glasses anyway which are transitions lenses, but wear orange flash polarised Ray Bans a lot prescription ones and cost a fortune. Just had them replaced under warranty as the frames started cracking.

haha - yeah, sunnies
I don't understand all these comments about leaving multiple pairs in different vehicles though ?
I don't leave spare boots or hats in every vehicle, sunnies come into the same category. They are just something I always have with me & automatically grab with my hat & boots as I walk out the door ;).
If im not wearing them, then they are either on top of my hat or in a shirt pocket.
Yeah yeah I KNOW we have more sunshine, but I find grey rainy overcast days actually harder on my eyes with the glare than clear blue skies are
High end fashion brands are a waste of money, unless you particularly WANT to wear high end fashion brands. As stated by others, the best option are tinted safety glasses designed for outdoor use, with the appropriate labelling / certification on the lenses. Cheap, light, comfortable ( after all, they are designed to be worn all day while working ) and far more durable. There are many styles available now also, so you don't have to look like youre wearing Royal Blind Society glasses & a guide dog :D
Polarised lens are great if youre out on the water etc, but do have issues with tinted windows in many farm machines, as well as some monitors / screens you will find in tractor cabs
PLEASE don't buy elcheapo ebay or petrol station glasses that don't meet the relevant lens standards, as they WILL give you headaches or potentially damage your eyes if the allow your pupils to open up ( because they are in shade ) but don't filter out the damaging UV, which your open pupil is now allowing more into the eye . . .
I will wear expensive fashion sunnies if im going somewhere smart, but to be honest I much prefer wearing my safety glasses. Last ones ive bought were a box of Uvex outdoor tinted safety glasses ( that meet all the impact & UV requirements ) a couple of years ago from an engineering supplies shop. It was under $40 for 6 pairs. If the lenses get damaged ( the frames are virtually indestructible ) or scratched, I just grab another pair. They also fit easily under a motorbike helmet ( an important consideration. Many gl;asses the earpiece is really uncomfortable under a helmet ) & provide pretty good wind & dust protection.
As I said, sunnies are something I just grab automatically with my hat & boots, just like someone who needs prescription glasses, they are always with me

my father died in 1991, aged 71. He always wore sunglasses through the time I knew him. He did have a really cool 1950's black Rayban / Blues Brothers pair that somehow got lost. He definitely wasn't into fashion, they would have just been 1950's glasses when he bought them, but they were definitely retro cool :)
Anyway, an ex girlfriend of mine was once looking through some family photos & made the comment that there wasn't a single photo of my father, apart from his wedding day, that he wasn't wearing sun glasses

As to cataracts, yeah, UV is bad sh!t for eyes. My wife is 51 & is getting both eyes done shortly . . .

What's with the white paint on your forehead in the pic with you in your funeral uniform? Cricketer funeral?

Cant stand the bloody things.
Tried many different ones in the past and without exception within an hour of putting them on l had headaches and dizziness. Remove them and symptoms dissappear in under 5 mins.
Havent worn any in over 20 years and never will again.

As @Farmer Roy said cheap low quality lenses...I had the same problem would buy elcheapo ones at gas stations got to point where I quit wearing them til I got educated .
Went and splurged on a pair of Rayban 3183s (I like a smaller lightweight shades) the difference is night and day . Definitely get what you pay for.
