Supply chain issues?

Its nothing to do with brexit nick. Basically every country is trying to build its self out of recession caused by CV-19. This has created huge demand. Social distancing and closures due to CV-19 have cuased massive shortage. These two together have created this issue. The steel used for certain machines has gone up about 300%... Thats if you can actaully get it. Most bought in parts are up between 30-60%... Again if you can get them.
I think every country will try to build its way out of covid recession, I dont think that process has really started yet though has it?

In the last 12 months I have built a new Dutch barn, a new brick shed/barn with slate roof and completely gutted/renovated the farm house.
Had a policy from the outset that all materials to be on site about 3 months before they were desperately needed. Worked out nicely, most difficult part was windows and external door for house, that took 7 months and unlimited swearwords.
A good few months down the line and during one of my "where's my feckin door" conversations with the door supplier and he was saying how he had enjoyed his morning listening to oldies on Radio 2, Shaking Stevens being his highlight.
My response "At least he had a feckin door to be behind!" :D
We got there, looking back we pretty much performed miracles, turned out nice. :)

Pre-empting shortages has been the name of the game from the outset. I bought a new Aga type fire early on, months before I needed it. I knew they were made in Italy so got it bought right at the beginning of Covid (remember Italy's problems in the early days/weeks/months). I asked the UK supplier how things were regarding imports from Italy. "Oh, we hadn't thought of that". WTF?

Besides all the above, you try getting trades on site these days!

I'd happily work all summer for decent money and doing reasonable work but you try finding it.

Plenty of work out there but are you flexible enough to do it? Working away from home, nights, weekends etc. You'll probably find a lot of the pay rates are lower than the numbers chucked around on here though.
Working in a supermarket gets lots of TFF mentions.
Keen?

Parts have been tough to get here for close on a year. Rebuilt my sprayer engine last summer after it dropped a valve. Ordered a rebuild kit from New York as it was supposed to be available immediately. Asked the wife to cross into the states to pickup the kit. On her return there was only three pistons and liners not six and only one had rings. The rest did arrive a few weeks later. Local case dealer said he could only request the parts for me as there was no guarantee getting them.
