What is it ? I hear the phrase a lot, from DEFRA ministers, to well meaning numpties on my village FB page who've watched 3 episodes of Countryfile......
Traditional mixed farming ? Expensive no till drills, and trampling perfectly good grass into the ground ? Organic farming ? A mix of everything ? A totally new concept binning the previous 1000 years of innovation ?

TBH, the most sustainable for my bank account is renting some ground out for potatoes/ maize, and using traditional sowing methods with existing bought and paid for equipment. None of which seems to sit well with " sustainable " farming.

Is it time to completely retire from farming, Listen to Slade all day, and tinker with old Ford tractors in a shed ?

What is it ?

Whatever they want it to mean, which may vary on a minute by minute basis.

It's all a matter of "Interpretation of the rules", which apply differently to different people.

I wouldn't be surprised to see certain people get "Delegated Powers" as you get in Planning Permission.

Or in other words - it's very similar to Communism or a Dictatorship.

File it in the same folder as the phrase “more needs to be done”, favoured by Jeremy Vine callers to show their strength of commitment to the subject whilst simultaneously providing no details on the “how or what”.

To be sustainable you need to import as much as possible because emissions in other countries don't count. Offset your remaining emissions by pulling out all your hedges and trees and replacing them with new ones that will sequester carbon as they grow.
….and build more houses, specifically ones with a life expectancy of about 30yr 👍 that’ll fix it

What is it ?
farming that is sustainable
to say what sort of farming is sustainable you need a time frame, farming on Earth as it is is sustainable till the 21st of September 2021 at least I would think but no farming on Earth is sustainable forever as the earth won't be around unless we move it.
so we need a time frame ?

It’s like the term regenerative farming that gets bandied about on here by those that think they’ve reinvented the wheel.
Regenerative means to restore.

In other words to mend something that's broken.

Admission of guilt is the first step to forgiveness.

It's has no standards, no rules, no checks.
Any one can say the are a regenerative farmer 🙄
