We Had a Jimny for a Demo yesterday which was fitted with 31x15.5x 15 terra type tires.
Fantastic truck when places our Polaris wont touch , on Both wet and very steep sides.
Downsides was its Petrol, but worse it was under Powered, Struggling to get out o 1st Low on any Bank.
Mostly caused by the very large and Heavy ( i'm Told) Wheels., Although they can Change the gearing to suit them Better.

My Question is how would a Land rover 90 compare on these type of wheels.( seeing as its 3/4 tone heavier.) Large'est i can find is 33x15.5x15.

Mud Terrains are not a option on either Truck on this type of ground in the conditions we have at the moment.

Polaris Ranger? You sure the 4WD is working?

Id be VERY surprised if a Jimny would outperform a Polaris off road
So was i, they are very large wheels, it went uphill through a boggy patch that the Ranger compleatly failed to get through.
The Jimny was Hardly making a Mark anywhere, The lad demo'ing it was surprised the Tyre were Gripping so well.

Grip is a changable thing, Low weight and wide tyres works so long as you stay on top.
skinny wheels and weight works when you need to bite down to hard surface
Brake the surface round here , this time of year and you wont be going anywhere ( Buggy, Tractor or even a Crawler), Narrow Tyres dont work here, end of. worst luck. The lad selling it was trying to say the same( He usually runs it on Mud terrains) till we'd been round a bit.

31-15.5x15 tyres are pretty good for off road vehicles if you want to keep on top. Yes they are fairly heavy (because they're fairly big) and yes the rims are heavier (also because they're bigger).
So you just need to decide what your priorities are, flotation or grip, then configure the vehicle with enough power to do whichever job you are asking of it.

If anybody wants to experiment I have 6 tyres for sale, secondhand.;)

sounds like you need terra tyres for winter, not much else will beat them

Best thing is you can buy these jimny as a pick -up with a diesel engine in some other country's but they are not imported in to Euro or the UK

Yes, put a new set on a couple of months ago so have the old ones spare, 2 are almost as new, 2 about 50% and 2 about 20% but all sound.
Supacat for me is a great ATV for my farm; it is a cabbed version so winter weather no problem. Turbo diesel on red and I also have the trailer for it that picks up a Nato pallet by itself. Wife thinks it's my toy but I keep telling her it's an essential piece of farm machinery.

Heard of some guys converting to a diesel engine.
Diesel engine from a Vitara? maybe? There are kits available to put in a VW 1.9td engine.
Those KAP Suzuki pickups look the business but they are getting to be fair money.

I know this is an old thread Jellybean but,,,, Are you still running the supacat? any more thoughts on reliability and running cost. With quads at £10K and UTVs at £20k ive been thinking about supacats!
