Suzuki Jimmy pickups

There was at least one other thread about these in 2019 but in machinery section. Use search feature maybe ??
My view is that if I was in the market for a Gator type machine then I would rather have a Jimmy conversion pickup. I saw one at Lamma last January and it looked as good in the flesh as it does on paper.

Cracking motors.

I don’t have a Jimny, but I know folks who have and love them.

I have an 09 plate Grand Vitara on 104000 miles. The only actual repair to the car itself in all those miles cost me £17.

Obviously it’s had tyres, brake pads, etc in that time, but it’s been the best car I could have had. Not a spot of rust, never failed an MOT. The immobiliser is playing up a bit, but that was retro-fitted. Top kit.

Bit like the Valtra of the jeep world then....:D

A lot of the off-roaders use them, sturdy & cheap motoring.

^this. I’d never consider spending £18k+ on a Gator type thing, when you could spend less on a far superior Jimny conversion that would have a fraction of the running costs and would likely last a lot longer.

The last Gator I had the misfortune to sit in was on a trip down the road for a mile or so. My head was ringing afterwards, and I thought I’d been sitting in a bee hive for the last hour.

Do the newer 1.9 vitaras have low box? Or would I want a older 2.0 as a farm jeep/runabout I’ve given up on my search for a decent trooper  And threw a bid on a vitara on eBay last night

I think all the vitara models before 05 would have a low box . When they had a revamp on 55plate my SWB 1.6 didn’t have a low box but the LWB did.

We've had 1 a couple of years now and have found it much better than the ranger it replaced.
Spent much less time brocken down( This ones got 125,000 on the clock)
Cost of parts are a fraction of that of the Ranger.( Brakes, few bushes, universal joint and some steering components so far).
It uses about the same amount of fuel as our 450 quad, and will follow it prity well anywhere the driver has enough nerve to go.
Downside, is , there is only room for 1 passenger.and the flotation wheels are not the best on road.
