Where and when? What kind of seedbed? If you lock in a decent price now of around £160/t + milling premium it's still worth sowing into a good moist seedbed.

Quick answer would be 500 seeds/m2 now IMO.

Been sowing at 200kg but I’m running shy on seed so thinking of dropping it. Seed sample is atrocious though. It’s into overwintered stubbles that have been pigtailed to open them up and then combo drill but it’s not great! See pic but it will get a slow roll with some 24inch Cambridge’s to push it down.
It’s not to bad underneath as we’ve had a dog so no concern with rolling at the moment.

Drilled on the left. Colds are tennis ball to golf ball size but there is tilth.

Looks nice enough to me, especially if you roll it before they bake.

Vaddy set between 70 and 75 on a 8 m , seed is very small and not very pretty. Kilburn off the heap so no way of weighing it.
Having to plant it very deep to get it into moisture on the stronger stuff.

I think the 27 acres of spring wheat we had last year might have been our best paying crop. Pity I tipped it on the heap of ww.
