Arrived back in our garage today ready to fight over who gets the nest.
Quite a few migratory birds in this morning, I have seen Wheatears and large flocks of Yellow Wagtails.

Didn't see them but heard some yesterday. Heard a cuckoo as wall.

First swallows here today (North of Scotland) Uncle had them Friday 12 miles away. Geese are all but gone

ours built a nest once that fell off the purlin it was built on just after hatching -they built another nest but around a nail problem solved!

This old house has overhanging eaves , used to be dozens of nest . We installed heating a good few years ago the nests all fell off and they have failed to build since

Best thing for nests is to have some wet mud around - they seem to be able to stick that to anything. No shortage of wet mud, just no swallows, but no gnats today either - even the snails are hiding today!

saw 1st one last Thursday 16th and now we have a pair flying around such a nice sound to hear now awaiting the cuckoo waking me up at 3am as opposed to the wife telling me I'm snoring!!

One pair in workshop this morning bang on time, don't know if they build new nests or just put another layer in the old one?
They have (our) rock wool insulation around the nests built under the apex so should be nice and warm.

Saw two just now hunting over the pond. It really lifts the heart!
