They have been spotted on the 8th or 9th of April here for the last three years .

never saw any local last year missed looking up and seeing layers of swallows swifts and martins , was just the martins and swifts mind you them swifts shift a bit when low level.

Report of swallows being seen locally, if true it is quite early.
Nobody else spotted them yet?

None here yet in Cambridgeshire. Last year they arrived on 8/4 so I hope any day now. Our barn accommodates at least three pairs.

3 hanging around the stables this morning, an adult pair and 1 that we think was probably a chick from last year. A pair of mallards on the pond and George our tame cock pheasant strutting about with 2 ladies on the lawn, a robin feeding a youngster, and the sun's out. What's not to like.

I have just checked my diary and ours didnt arrive till 1st week of May last year. You lot must have a tropical micro climate.

It very often snows the day after they arrive and nearly always cold weather comes with them.

Normally see them first week of April here. Been cold and wind from the wrong direction. Warm air and this weeks forecast of South Easterly wind will bring them to many areas next few days . Seem to be declining in numbers yearon year. Fewer House Martins and Swifts as well.

They have been spotted on the 8th or 9th of April here for the last three years .

Interesting, we're a bit further south than you at Stafford but our local bird spotter says they always come here between 11th and 13th and sure enough saw first one last night. House martins tend to be perhaps a week after the swallows here

Wheatears here today, enjoy seeing them almost as much as the swallows.
Warm weather from the south should speed the swallows.

Two swallows zooming around ewes and lambs yesterday morning. Couldn't distinguish them easily against the leaden coloured sky at first, but then saw the flash of red on them when they flew closer.
