Saw quite a few today flying around a local farm today. Was quite surprised as mine have been gone a while.
The farm in question often has the first of the year that I see, I wondered if the were first in last out.

Thursday evening feeding cattle out at grass and there was about 30, mostly young ones flitting about catching flies. Watched them for ages and they eventually drifted off south. This is near Malton N Yorks. Our local swallows left around the 22nd Sept. Always sad to see them go. All head off to Africa for the winter.

Standing on the yard this morning talking with my brother and son and two swallows flew over quite low. The others had gone over a month ago. Hope these two make it.
