It's just as likely that a Syrian use of CM and subsequent opinion would drive the Russian's closer to the US/UK position.
I think you are assuming Assad is rational. Besides Putin likes to portray the west as weak. Perhaps he and Assad misjudged Trump's response. It is difficult to believe the Russians didn't have prior knowledge of this, they had personnel stationed at the airbase that was struck.

Yeah, and?

Bolivia are entitled to put their opinion on record, any bias is probably only recognised by those that have a differing opinion. You brought the subject of biased opinions into the conversation, I just pointed out that all opinions would be subject to bias from both sides. No issue really.

I'm afraid, my friend, you're assuming a heck of a lot too...i only stated that there was a chance that a strategy, such as you described could work the other way too...

Grand so. I never shied away from my position of liking the life we can lead where we life. As opposed to Russia where jurnos and opposition pols get murdered in the street, or Venezuela that despite being an oil producing nation recently appealed to the UN for help as they can only barely afford less than 5% of the medicines needed in their country. Bolivia is of similar thinking, being part of the leftist revolution to sweep across South America a few years back. Good luck to them, but a friend of Russia is not a friend of countries like ours IMO.

What I find really galling is that they really think we the common people are stupid, enough, I am reading news and they are still using the same one man operation the Syrian observatory for human rights, as their main source, hello it has been discredited time and time again, :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Yes, it is very bizarre that the media and government use the opinions of one man who has never even been to Syria in the last 17 years as their main source of verification. :scratchhead:

There has been one consistent agenda over the past 5+ years IMHO.

Someone wants a confrontation with Russia. Obama, Hilary, EU and some in UK are all for it.

If someone wanted to kill lots of people why use Sarin ... it doesn't even propogate very far. Far more people have been killed with bombs.

Still we will see if any evidence comes out ...

I gave that man Assad a chance. Same with Putin. But they've fallen well short. I don't rate them. They'll reap what they sow.

Putin has the ability to wipe the UK off the face of the Earth with about 5 to 10 missiles.

I don't think we in the UK have the ability to rate Putin nor treat him as insignificant ... it's far better he is on our wave length and we have trade with Russia.

Given we know Russia is weaker than the USA then what is this posturing all about ? Why can't we all trade and our families have happier lives ?

There comes a point when his very thin veneer of respectability can no longer hide his rampant self interest and the fact be puts his own interests before that of his people. He isn't on my wavelength and I wouldn't do trade with him at any price.

The western leaders can sit, talk, eat and drink in as many swanky hotels as they wish, but the only man they actually need to be talking with they always exclude, Assad.:scratchhead:

Is Assad really in control. I always thought he was just a figurehead for the Baath party?
On the Russian aspect, maybe it's about time Putin was put into the naughty corner by the US.

Who knows, but the same could be said for many governments. It's interesting that the Baath party's 3 founders were a Christian, a Sunni and an Alawite with secular socialist principals. Currently it now appears to be more like the ruling party of a an increasingly one party state.
