Lili. Ear is four and a half inch long. Litre CTL at t0. Litre adexar plus half litre opus plus CTL at T1 which was 22 days ago. Boot spitting. No rain forecast. I've decided to leave this!

Flag fine for size. Lower leaves are big and clean. I suppose it comes down to light being able to get into the canopy.

Farm saved seed, strong pre em. Digestate, 200kg bulk urea. Looks ok apart from bloody volunteer barley from two years ago.

I reckon flag is still the driver due to most of the light hitting it. But I think you can see the lack of rain in how clean these leaves are.

Did you do 2 or 3 fungicides in the barley?

Three, and a half this year. But none overly dear. The half was a "going through with terpal so may as well add it". The cost has been from a strong mildewicide, and two strobs. Again, I'd question if it would pay this year but the canopy is very thick and I've spent a lot of time coaxing it to health after almost destroying it with both the autumn herbiced and (too strong, too early) early pgr.

I am loathe to put pics on here after last time when my seemingly ace barley spend much of June and July flat to the floor. I am still learning. Few small heads but they are mainly on the odd tiller or two rather than throughout. Only weed is bloody rogue spring barley which has come in the (new) seed. This has not had its T2 yet as it's bloody hot and I'm going to take my boys to the park for a kick about and do the spraying after tea when it cools down .

Note new farming priority system!

Makes me question the need for an sdhi T2 (Ceratavo+). On the other hand, wife expecting a baby on the 15th, so maybe apply it and forget about it, discretion the better part of valour etc!?

I'd say you've got enough else to worry about without fretting about saving a few quid on a fungicide! I hope it all goes well (y)

Well this escalated quickly:

Little Wilfred arrived in a rush this morning, I was just getting the sprayer ready, wife felt twinges, rang midwife, took her to hospital, arrived there at 10.20am, he arrived at 11.39.

I had to ditch the car by the main door, had a warning notice on by the time I got back!

Do you reckon the wife will let me get a bit of spraying done this evening?!
