Revystar and inatreq both give kick back(if you believe the sales gumph) something we haven't had in chemistry for probably 10 years.

Univoq containing Inatreq and prothioconazole at full rate will offer 5-7 days curative activity, depending on disease pressure, variety resistance and weather. Well worth considering if T2 applications have been delayed due to the wet weather, especially as tests are showing that latent disease infections are moving towards the flag leaf even though physical symptoms may not yet be visible . Same here, had a fairly robust late T1 so should have cover for another 10 days at least, by that time we might have some sort of idea what the weather may do.

Probably only a difference in disease due to slightly different development rates.

The only T1 application was on a block of 40ha of Skyfall which had teb + azoxystrob. Firefly and Extase have had nothing until now.

I only ask as I did an Aviator T1 on my skyfall down here and even though I felt the risk was low I didn't feel I had much other options now epoxi has gone.

I did my T2 last night and Skyfall is booting. On reflection this could be a year where T1 contributed more than t2 given the lateness of application and if the forecast is hot and dry for 2 weeks. Easy with hindsight - I think it pretty much reaffirms to me that I'm stuck in a SDHI t1 and t2 cycle now for the future. Maybe will drop proline at t3...

It’s one of those things that is significantly affected by geography. Your in Pembrokeshire?, I’m in Kent. Rust is the main issue here rather than septoria, and Skyfall has been the only variety to succumb this year. I’m dropping it next year as the Warburtons contract wasn’t worth bothering with anymore. Trying a 3ha field of Extase with no fungicide at all, although it has had some extra foliar nutrition.

the cold May will have increased the time between diseases generations so lengthening the time a spray is effective for plus we started with low levels of disease with most t1 on dry and a very effective protectant if it also hit leaf 2

in a warm period the desease can cycle much faster that is definitely not 2021

imho well timed sprays will be very effective at preserving disease

Nodal fusarium developing yet again, but if the weather forecast is to be believed-it is drying up just at the right time to cease growing worse and with an absolute spot on timing(for us here) with full flag staged from now to the middle/end of next week. Roll on bright weather. looking at final node within sheath I would say few crops are going to be daft tall, so hopefully not too bad a lodging risk

Can you give me an idea on how you can estimate final height? I judge late pgr need based on how springy the crop feels. But seems a bit unscientific.

No science, bit like the stiffness really. When nodes are dropped by a subsequent node they are fixed in height AFAIK, there is a limit how far the ear will be above flag. Mainly because if it didn't it would look really odd to you as you are so used to seeing it! History of pgr & environment up to flag leaf emergence. Some of ours (10%) getting low rate cerone, 50% low rate canopy as the softest insurance policy I can use, the, rest nothing.

bitten the bullet and ordered 1.0 lt/ha Revystar - 98 mm rain in last 3 weeks, crops looking good, not worth scrimping at this stage IMHO given 90% is Kerrin
