ive seen some shocking disease in a 3 way variety blend that was absolutely full of rust today (my own)

With almost no rain for 4 weeks and non forecast, I’ve decided that a t3 will not happen here. The wheat has 4 green leave and is at gs 65+ , so that’s it, gate shut.

I've spent loads ob fungicide this year......or rather, I spent loads on fungicide that I didn't use in 2020....or 2019. Still, shed empty now.

I nearly didn’t bother with a T3 this year but as my supplier pointed out; it does allow a nice big tick in the fusarium risk assessment which otherwise could make you risky. Interestingly, with any fusarium activity disappearing after mid flower, this year I would have had to apply 2 weeks after T2 if I had done it to try and achieve this. So mine just got teb to top up disease control. Hardly any septoria in south lincs; loads of yellow rust. YR fast becoming the disease to treat for here with septoria secondary. Trendy chemistry looks to be struggling unless mixed with teb.

Finished my T3 on Monday and glad it's gone on. Put plenty of fungicide on the crops this year but they look well so well worth it in my opinion. Put a few pics up on here of bad yellow rust in spray misses so I'm 100% happy it was the right decision. T3 was £20/ha cost and it doesn't take much greening by the strob element to pay that back in extra grainfill imo.

I'm usually a big advocate of no fungicide or reduced fungicide but this year not so.
T1 was only 0.4 Toledo but it has been worth its weight in gold and any misses or the last 30 yards of the last tramline where I ran out look gastly. Treated stuff looks ok, JB Diego always looks scruffy anyway but on the whole very good, T2 was 1.1 ascra and T3 is 0.3 teb and 0.4 azoxy to hopefully keep it green far as long as possible.

I’m struggling with my T3 timing on my wheat. A few heads are right out and giving out pollen. Some are just emerging from the boot but not fully emerged and not flowering. Some are half emerged and flowering. Some aren’t emerged at all. About 25% in each category. My target is fusarium. Spray tonight before it gets showery again or wait. I’m inclined to spray tonight mainly because I’m sick of pissing about with it.

I don't worry about the timing too much, I'm all feed so fusarium isn't quite so crucial.
I tend to go when the ears on the main stem are mid flowering and when it feels "right"

Fusarium control is hit and miss at the best of times, so would make the decision based on when the T2 went on (and what is was)

It was Firefly drilled in January and has consistently been a week behind the same variety drilled in November , through T1and T2. The November drilled wheat got its T3 last Sunday so I reckon the coming weekend will be right for the January drilled wheat. Next autumn I hope to manage drilling dates so that spray timings dont fall on weekends!!!

Actually don't mind doing an odd tank or 2 on a weekend, as long as it's not 9 o'clock at night.

Blimey, things up north must be a lot more precise that down here. I take my hat off to you to be able to select a drilling date that will mean a spray timing isn't a weekend 8 months later!!!!!
Ps why wait till the weekend????? It going to be wet crack on and get it done today, is it really going to alter that much in 3 days

All wheat done in the past couple of days also a splash of fungicide some pgr and manganese on SB, next thing will be the protein spray on the skyfall, the podstick at green stage on the rape then the liquid sunshine, only feels like last week we finished sowing
