Is CVT a good choice for a tractor doing draft work? The OP’s main job would be ploughing.
Personally think CVT is actually really good at draft work, though I know a lot of people don't. We compared our t7.225ac vs t7060pc on a 2.5m omnitil (basically trio) in side by side runs of the same field. There's roughly 30hp between the tractors, without CVT losses with 1t weight difference. 7060 pulled it at 7kph and the 225 6kph which we were amazed at. The 225 also had much lower slip which may be down to newer tires (7060 maybe 30% but 1t heavier and has 500kg of rear axle weights) but I think a lot of it is how torque is transferred to the ground by not having a fixed gear ratio allowing for fewer revs but the same forward speed.

I'm intrigued by all these buttons and settings the experts tweek to get the best out of them too!?🤣

I just push the stick forward and go.
With a lowly 7.210 on 4m combi and 4m front press on hilly going I need to use every trick on the book to keep forward speeds acceptable at times.

it’s certainly rare to see it running at anything less than 100% engine load on that job and the target speed is more of an ambition than an achievement.

How do you lock it in a range, is there anywhere to see what range it's in?
Press the tortoise button whilst holding in the button on the rear of the joystick locks it into the first internal range and limits speed to ~12kph. It should show up on the LHS of the screen that it is in field work mode. You can have 3 preset speeds in this mode and then to get out of it just press the hare button whilst holding in the rear joystick button

Didn't know it did that. Is field mode just to keep torque high and and power?

I think the main reason is to stop a previous issue which wore out the internal clutch pack. There use to be a "software bug" where at around the 12kph mark the tractor would constantly shift up and down internally trying to optimise the transmission settings but in reality was just excessive wear. By locking the tractor in the low range it stopped this from happening, but I think the software has also been upgraded to avoid this. The only problem I have with this is that it's an awkward speed for tasks such as baling, drilling or mowing where it may limit you to 10kph because you are at lower revs and there is a limit to the lower range maximum ratio but in this case just don't lock the tractor into range because it will be forced to use the higher range anyway to achieve the desired speed.

A friend of mine was a die hard 6cyl fan and changed an MXM140 (TM150) for a Maxxum 150 (T6.180) and says he wishes now he went for the 4 cyl 145 as we compare our fuel useage mine does seem to be quite a bit better with no real difference in performance.

I would think this is why CNH only offer one 6cyl option throughout the Maxxum/T6 range as they can get the 4cyl to perform equally as well with a considerable fuel saving.

Both the current T6.160 and T6.180 are 6 cylinder.

I already have T7.190 auto command, and after buying one I have now decided to get another, hence changing to a 2018 145 with 3100 hours or a 2014 golden jubilee t6.160 AC for similar money with 5000 hours. But conscious of the fact will be going down to 4 cylinder from 6 in the TM130.
Did you decide?
