T6040 50K - Buying Advice

Hello,

Going to look at a 08 T6040 next week. Its 50K Electroshift on air with a Stoll 750TL loader. Has approx 7800 hours done. Am I mad to be even contemplating it? Do the 50K's give much trouble over the 40K's? I assume at this hours if the brakes have not been done that they will need doing? Are clutch packs another item I would need to factor into the price?

What are the other common issues to look for on these tractors? Its a private sale and the owner is looking for 36K no vat. Does this seem steep?

Thanks.

They are much the same as any other second hand modern tractor. A good operator can make them last forever, a bad operator can kill the brakes and/or clutch packs in a few hundred hours.

As others have said it's too expensive.
I've no experience of 50k electroshifts but assuming it's a similar set up to range and power commands check the change into top gear and watch out for error codes. I know of a few range and power commands that have given bother with bearings and clutch packs on the 50k drive.

Thanks for the replies. Tractor would have a lot of roadwork done. A good drive at 50k and seeing how it engages into the 17th gear will hopefully show up any potential delays clunks or faults.
Im finding it hard to come across these 6040's second hand in any condition. Was there many sold when new?
