Tachometer stopped working - Siromer 204s

Hi, The Tachometer has stopped working on our Siromer 204s a couple of weeks ago, any suggestions please? Thank You.

On the back of the alternator there are 3 wires,
  1. is the main power supply wire to the battery via the starter
  2. is the wire for the charge light
  3. the last is for the rev counter.
the rev counter is operated by the voltage generated by the alternator. put a multimeter on the alternator out put main supply and it should read 13.8 to 14.8 v.
The second small wire for the light should read 12v with the engine off.
and the third wire will have a varying voltage depending on the engine revs............................................................................................

Ok I've had a look at sorry still confuses. Which wires to I try multimeter on and which setting on multimeter please thank you
