What do you do when tack sheep gone .
in the spring/summer months contract shepherd?

Drive a truck!

I'm working in developing some summer sheep work. The kit I've 'acquired' this season will stand me in good stead for contract shepherding.

I'm also in talks with a large arable outfit for year round rent of 300+ acres. That would bring some great opportunities.

He sits in a darkened room, counting all the money he makes over the winter.;)

Or dream of the sheepy toys I could buy with such profits...

I've had brackets fitted to my stock trailer to better transport my handling system.

I was trying to use said handling system tonight when some helpful individual decided to commemorate the battle of the Somme by re-enacting the preliminary artillery bombardment with fireworks.

Very pretty, but scared the sh!t out of the sheep, which swiftly broke out the system and scattered across the 10 acre field. Sometimes, you've just gotta know when you're beat.

I think you are officially having a bad week @unlacedgecko may I suggest the best thing is a bottle of scotch or similar.

Hahahaha. I agree. When/if I finish tonight I've a bottle of Talisker Dark Storm with my name on it.

I was changing raddles on some particularly large Beltex tups earlier. I had one in the combi clamp, with the catch on to hold him. I'd seen this fella give out some big hits to my pen dog earlier. I'm on my knees in front of him fiddling with the crayon pin and he burps full in my face, looks me in the eye and starts pawing the base of the clamp. I just hoped the catch would hold him and thought 'if this f cker comes out at very best he'll break my nose, and wouldn't that be the perfect end to the perfect week...'

Was it just me or was anyone else singularly unimpressed with last night's 'super moon'?

I found it not bright enough to see a white sheep on a dark night. So I went back to the old favourite of headlight shepherding.

Does anyone know what this is?

I was driving along and it fell off my truck. I think it's the starter motor but would be nice if someone could confirm.

Truck is now f cked.

That cost £700. But it meant the truck was fixed in time for Xmas, ready for the clutch to go. It's now in the garage getting a new clutch, fly wheel and possibly gear box.

I was using the wife's Outlander to tow a stock box with the quad in, but that died on Thursday as well. It's still in warranty but Mitsubishi wanted to replace it with a Peugeot 206...

After many increasingly angry phone calls I got this delivered.

It's quite nice to drive but the 3.2 auto is a bit thirsty, especially when towing. Not that I'll be doing much towing after this happened today.

I bought to box 11 months ago and it was booked in for service on Wednesday. TR one saving grace is that the wheel ended up on the verge and not the windscreen of a car.

Get these trailers serviced people!
